A new mural festival is ideal for those looking to discover more of the Hoosier State

Those looking for an opportunity to get out of the house for a road trip are in luck—northeast Indiana is hosting the state’s first-ever regional mural festival Sept. 8-18. Called the Make It Your Own Mural Fest, 11 new murals will be revealed in northeast Indiana, one in each of the region’s counties.
The murals will be created over those 11 days and revealed at the same time, giving visitors the opportunities to see these works of art in progress. Those stopping by the murals are encouraged to social distance and are even invited to view the art from their cars. You can find the murals’ locations, and learn more about the artists creating the murals, on the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership’s website.
The participating communities will also be hosting events and celebrations throughout the festival, with the Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District and Art This Way Fort Wayne holding an Art Crawl Sept. 18 near The Landing and Promenade Park in downtown Fort Wayne.
To further celebrate this new event, Visit Fort Wayne has created itineraries for 11 themed road trips that can help visitors see the murals while exploring the region. The road trips have themes like the outdoors, history and culture, and wineries, breweries and distilleries and include information about each stop.
“From the lakes to rivers, Amish communities and family-friendly moments, the northeast Indiana road trips offer something for every interest,” says Jessa Campbell, marketing and communications manager for Visit Fort Wayne
