Hocking Hills might be most known for its forests, caves and hiking trails, but it’s also a great place to visit if you’re in need of a weekend of relaxation.
The Hocking Hills Serenity Salt Cave, for instance, is Logan’s only salt cave. The floor of the space is covered with Himalayan salt, and the walls are lined with salt boulders. Visitors are invited to spend 45 minutes in the relaxing space, breathing in the salt air. According to a press release from Explore Hocking Hills, “The salt’s antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties help heal a variety of respiratory, skin and emotional conditions. It is particularly useful for those who suffer from allergies, asthma, snoring, chronic sinus and bronchitis, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis, eczema, psoriasis, acne, stress, anxiety, fatigue and other ailments.”
The Sauna Pods at Hocking Hills are enclosed spa spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the forests of Hocking Hills. Explore Hocking Hills recommends trying one after a day of hiking.
Another unique and relaxing activity is offered through High Rock Adventures. It’s Nature Therapy experience takes visitors on a three-hour tour of the forest that is designed to help you feel more connected with nature. Based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing, the experience is said to help manage anxiety, depression and burnout; quiet the mind; and lower blood pressure.
Other local spas include Natural Remedies Massage, Blue Valley Massage, Inner Wisdom Wellness, Ash Cave Day Spa and the Inn & Spa at Cedar Hills.
