The Huntington Area Hot Dog Trail might be the tastiest way to experience Huntington, West Virginia. While some might not see hot dogs as the most mouthwatering food, Huntington has perfected the art of the hot dog at its nine local hot dog stands that make up the trail.
If you eat at any of the five participating hot dog stands and get your digital voucher validated, you’ll receive a novelty hot dog pin. But, if you’re up for the challenge of trying all nine hot dog stands, you’ll receive a hot dog t-shirt, according to Huntington’s website.
The participating stands include Frostop Drive-In, Hillbilly Hot Dogs, Stewart’s Original Hot Dogs, Midway West Drive-In, Sam’s Hot Dog Stand, Farley’s Famous Hot Dogs, Hazlett’s Triple H Drive Inn, Shaffers Drive-In and Dog Haus Biergarten.
Huntington also hosts the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival every year, which includes a hot dog eating contest, root beer chugging contest, wiener dog races, and a car and truck show. This year will mark the 21st year of the Hot Dog Festival, and all proceeds from the festival’s contests, rides, runs and activities go to Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Huntington, West Virginia is definitively hot-dog-crazy and is the perfect destination for a foodie looking for a new adventure.
